Introduction and System Requirements

This feature is part of the Visforms Subscription and not available in the free Visforms version..

In order to fit perfectly into the look an feel of your website, Visforms does not come with lots of own styling but tries to use the styles provided by your template.

This approach is supported by Joomla! itself, because Joomla! has decided to create HTML-Code that meets the requirements of a specific standard - the Boostrap 2.3.2 standard. Thus, using Bootstrap 2.3.2 styles your website will "look good" without any further action. Following this example, Visforms creates HTML code that meets the requirements of the Bootstrap 2.3.2 standards. So styles defined in your template's CSS, like colors, fonts or the button layout, will apply to the forms, too.

The advantage of this approach is, that forms, create with Visforms fit into your website out of the box and you do not need to worry about or spending time on formating the form individually. But if you use Visforms with a template that does not implement the Bootstrap 2.3.2 standard, you may be limited to Visforms' "Default" fallback layout. (Which is fine but nothing special).

Boostrap comprises three different form layouts. A default layout, displaying the label above the control. A horizontal layout, where label and control are situated in a single line. Further on it is possible to create a multi column layout by setting a width for each control, so that more than on control can be displayed in one line. Especially the code required to create a multi column layout is very individual and special.

Visforms support all three Bootstrap 2.3.2 layouts in the free version.

Since Joomla! 3 was intruduced some years hence, Bootstrap has been developed further on (and improved). That is, why some templates use the newer Bootstrap 3 standard, although it is not fully compatible with Joomla! 3. Sometimes compatibility with Joomla! 3 is provided through legacy css code. (For example by the Helix 3 template framework).

Especially concerning forms, Bootstrap 3 and Bootstrap 2.3.2 are quite different and our Bootstrap 2.3.2 layouts which are part of the Visforms core, do not work very good on Bootstrap 3 templates.

This extension will close this gap and provide Visforms users with Bootstrap 3 templates with additional layouts for Visforms that fit into Bootstrap 3 templates.

Please note: You only need this extension if you use a pure Bootstrap 3 template without Bootstrap 2.3.2 legacy CSS. Please asked your template developer first, whether there is Boostrap 2.3.2 backwards compatibility in your template, before you order this extension!

If you use a Bootstrap 2.3.2 template or a Bootstrap 3 template with Bootstrap 2.3.2 legacy CSS, you can use the layouts which are part of the Visforms core.
