Hi there  I text area field on joomla 4. It seems to cut off after so many charachters with ...  (see example below)  Is there a way to increase this or set to unlimited?

From the day I moved to Sangudo in October last year, I haven't met an unkind person here. Everyone I have interactions with are so kind and helpful. Always a smile, a friendly face, a good and giving neighbor, a helping hand, a kind gesture from a strang...

Hi there,
I assume that you are talking about the display of the text in the frontend.
In the list view, which is generated via the "Visforms >> Form data" menu item, Visforms shortens the text to 255 characters and inserts the three dots at the end...
The complete text is then displayed in the detailed view.
We have implemented this so that the list view is not optically distorted by very long texts.
This behavior can be changed by a layout override of the components/com_visforms/layouts/visforms/datas/fields/textarea.php file.
You can find instructions on how to create an override here: www.vi-solutions.de/en/documentations/vi...layout-with-override
Just comment the code at line 32 - 34 in your override file llike this
Code:
default:                 /* if (StringHelper::strlen($text) > 255) {                     $text = StringHelper::substr($text, 0, 255) . "...";                 } */                 break;

If you use the Visforms Data content plugin to display the data, you can use a "maxtextlength" parameter to determine whether the text for the display is shortened or not. And to what length it is shortened. See: www.vi-solutions.de/en/documentations/vi...taview-parameterlist

Aicha

:idea: I recommend you the new and up-to-date documentation for Joomla 4:

Most of this also applies retrospectively to Joomla 3.
Please only ask 1 question per topic :-).

:idea: Ich empfehle Dir die neue und aktuelle Dokumentation für Joomla 4:

Das meiste gilt rückwirkend auch für Joomla 3.
Bitte immer nur 1 Frage pro Thema stellen :-).
