Automatic check in of record sets
This feature is part of the Visforms Subscription and not available in the free Visforms version.. This feature was added to the Visforms Subscription version 3.0.0
When a record set is opened for editiing, it will be checked out, so that no other user can open the record set for editing, in order to protect the record set.
If the user closes the edit view properly by using the cancel or the save button, the record set is check in by automatic action. But if the user just leaves the edit view, for example by closing the browser, the record set will stay checked out and cannot be edited by any other user in the front end.
The Visforms Subscription since 3.0.0 provides you with a new feature, to solve this problem. This new feature allows you the set a time, after which a record set will be checked in by automatic action, if a user tries to open the edit view in front end. This is a global setting for Visforms which can be set in the global Visforms options.
- Go to the Visforms Dashboard in the administration panel of your website (Components -> Visforms).
- Click the option tile or the option button in the upper right corner of the Visforms Dashboard in order to open the global Visforms options.
- Go to tab "Advanced"
- Set a time in minutes in the option "Frontend Edit Auto Checkin Time". Record sets will be checked in by automatic action after this time span, if a user tries to open them in front end for editing. If the option value is empty or 0 (which is the default value) the record sets are not checked in by automatic action.
If you think for example, that a user usually would not take longer than some minutes to edit a record set, a time span of 120 minutes should be a save value for this option.
