Check email existence no longer works was created by angelsweb
Hello, the 'Check email existence' functionality no longer works, i.e. the email with the verification code does not arrive even though the message appears that it has been sent.
Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello Angelo,

I just tried it out.
The feature works perfectly for me and the verification mail was sent, the code was correct and was accepted.
The code for this feature has not changed recently.

Within Visforms, sending emails is a very stable and bug-free functionality.
Once configured properly in Visforms (and Joomla) to work, the problem is usually not Visforms.

However, numerous players are involved in the workflow of sending e-mails (especially Joomla, the webmailer, the e-mail server, the provider, the e-mail client, IP blacklists and spam filters...).
The configuration of these players is regularly the reason why e-mails do not arrive as expected.

In particular, it is also possible that the e-mail address used is only temporarily rejected by the recipient.
The entire domain under which the e-mail is sent can also be blocked by the recipient in one way or another.

This can be remedied by testing the affected e-mail dispatch outside of the form.

All these areas are not part of the Visforms code, but are the responsibility of the respective administrator.

Sending e-mails is always a topic in the forum and so far it has always been the above 'third parties' that have led to problems and irregularities.

Hi, thank you for your reply, unfortunately it still doesn't work, now the emails with the verification code arrive, a few hours later, however when entering the code, an "incorrect code" message appears. The form page is:

Dear Angelo,

I am very happy to hear that your e-mails are arriving.
If there are regularly long delays between sending and receiving, I advise you to contact your e-mail provider.
The transport of the e-mail is not within the scope of Visforms.

As I can gather from your explanations, you have sent and received several verification emails.
When entering the verification code, the last generated and last sent code must always be entered.

All previously generated verification codes lose their validity.
Google and others handle this no differently than Visforms.

The behavior is described in the documentation:

Citation:
f the user presses the “Verify” button several times, a new code is generated and sent each time.
Only the last code sent is saved in the database.
Codes older than 7 days are automatically deleted.

Hello
I am aware that only the last code requested is valid so
- I waited a day before making a new request
- I only made one request
- a few hours later the e-mail with the code arrived
- I entered it
- I received the wrong code message

In the previous e-mail I included the link to the form in question so that you could verify it

Hi Angelo,
I tried getting a Verification Code from your form.
I propery receive the message "we have send you a code..."
This indicates, that the Visforms code has complete it's task (creating the code, sending the mail) successfully.
The delivery of the mail else lies outside the scope of Visforms.

Mails which come in after hours (or not all) are a sure sign, that there is some problem with the mailer, set up in your Joomla installation.
In my case, I did not get the mail at all.

Without proper mailer, you cannot be sure, which mail was send when and which code ist the correct one.
This is not a good situation for testing the code validation.

The verification codes are stored temporarily in the database.
Table: #__visverificationcodes
One code is specific to the form and the e-mail adress.
If you want to test, if the Code Verication works (no wrong code message), then you could look up an e-mail address and the proper code for the specific form in that table and test with those data.

As Ingmar wrote before, we have tested the feature on our systems and it works properly.

One thing, I was wondering about all the time is, why you label your Post "no longer works".
This suggests, that it did work in the past.
When did it stop to work?
Was it a Visforms Update, was it a Joomla Update, was it some changes in your Webspace, what else?
Could you please provide this information?
