blank admin page for spambotcheck

hi.. on joomla 3.7.3 and joomla 3.7.4 [upgrades], two sites, the admin page for spambotcheck has gone blank. no view source

the item was installed at some point previously so admin page did used to show ,

i am using plgSpambotCheck_j3.2.2_1.3.13 have tried re-installing.

the front end spambot checking is still working as it sends me blocking advice emails.

i do not know when back end stopped working joomla version wise.

can you replicate this?

I'm sorry, but I cannot reproduce the problem and have not heard of something like that before. As many users use the spambotcheck, I think this is not a common problem of the component but of the individual configuration of your website.

I have Joomla! 3.7.4 and plgSpambotCheck_j3.2.2_1.3.13 and can access the admin interface of the component without problems.

Do you use some other extension that interacts with the user component? Have you set up custom fields for the user component or something like that?

i am using php 7.1.7 did you try that?

on a thrid site running 3.7.4 and php 5.3 i get the admin page ok.

all 3 sites are running nearly the same extensions. they are essentially copies.

anyway if its not that as you say it must be interaction somehow.

hi i notice the xml file has mysql driver called, just guessing maybe it should be mysqli for php 7 up.

one of my installations runs on a local xampp with php 7.1.7 and that works fine, too.

xml-file is only used during installation.

i just did a quick check
admin page appears fine on php 7.0 but disappears on php 7.1
no errors or clue as to why,

any further ideas? could there be some difference between xampp you use locally, and a linux dedicated rented server?

Hi paul,

there can certainly differences between the php configuration, the apache configuration and the mysql configuration on different systems (my local xmapp, your linux system).
Have you tried to set error reporting to "Development" in "Global configuration" in order to really show all error messages.
