Viewer Input Text in Form Field

I am using Joomla 3.8.3 and VisForms Free Version (not sure of Version).

I am trying to develop a Form where I need the Viewer to be able to type in their Text Statement, in response to my questions.

When setting up the Field, I have tried to use Type = Text and Type = Textarea and in both instances, the Viewer at the Front End cannot type anything into the Text Areas provided.

I cannot see any other settings that can affect this, to produce the result I am looking for.

Can someone with experience, please set out the correct steps for this procedure.

latest stable Joomla! Version is 3.8.2 not 3.8.3 so I was wondering, whether you made just a typo?
It would be important to know the Visforms version, to, which you can easily learn from the Visforms "Dashboard" page in the Visforms Administration or from the extension manager on your website.

Usually, if you have not enabled the field option "Readonly", a user should be able to type in an input in either field type. That is, what a form is for, in the first place, isn't it?

So if this is not working on your website, it looks to me, that there is something totally wrong. I would need to take a look at the form that is not working as expected.

Thank you for your response and advice - I must have been asleep not to understand the meaning of the Read Only Check Box - Your advice has now corrected my Problem.

I established I am using Version 1.0.3 VisForms.
