presales question of visForm'plugin was created by Stefano
hi,
i need some clarification about VisForm and some plugins.

I'd like to use Visform in a project in which registered users of the site can create and modify a document (a curriculum), that some "Tutor-Admin" can review, correct and integrate.

At the end of this process (creation and correction) the Tutor-Admin can abilitate the user to acces of a link of a pdf versione of the curriculum (made by Phoca PDF).

If I anderstood I can use your extensions -out of the box- for:

a. create the structured data input for the document-curriculum, by Visform

b. use the Content Form View plugin for put this form in a Joomla page

c. use the Visforms Edit Page in Frontend for editing/correction of the curriculum (i can't anderstand if in documentationa this is declared non possible only in the backend)

d. Visforms Subscription plugins for lets see only the Owner data for the single user

It's correct?

First question: can a Tutor-Admin see and modify the data created by a user even if it is not the autor? Can do that by front-end?

Second questions: it's possible to put a conditional field in the user-form, that si accessibile only by a "Tutor-Admin" to show in front-end a link to a pdf version of the curriculun created when the tutor declare it finisced?

I hope this description is enough clear ;-)

have a nice day

hi,

the only thing I'm not sure of how it is supposed to work, is creating a pdf version of the curiculum using Phoca PDF.
Data created with Visforms are stored in Visforms specific tables in the database and I do not know whether or how Phoca PDF would be able to create a PDF from the data.
But if your are able to create a PDF in such a way and store it on the server, then with the Visforms Subscription you would be able to create a form field (of type url), that can only be set in the front end edit views and where the tutor could enter the url to the pdf. You can set up fields of type url in a way, that the url is displayed as link and that it is displayed in the front end data view. So this is partly the answer to your second question.

If creating a PDF from Visforms data is not possible with Phoca PDF then maybe you could use Visforms limited PDF Options itself (which come with the Visforms Subscription Plugin Mail Attachments).
They are not perfect (and the next feature we will add to the Visforms Subscription is a much more powerful PDF-engine) but if you are willing to compormise it should work. In Visforms you can create a PDF from each mail which is send after a form is submitted or after the data are edited in front end and you can then attach the PDF's to the mails. Further on you can customise the mails and even display data submitted with the form inside the mail. So basically you would create the Curiculum as a mail, create a PDF from the mail and send it with the mail to the student and/or tutor.

The Visforms Subscription Plugin Custom Mail Address would allow you further that a student can select their tutor in the form and "result" mails are send to that tutor then.

In the front end you would have 3 different views, with different access control levels and permissions.
1. The form view, where the original data are entered (which can be accessed by registerd student users)
2. The edit view, where the tutor can edit the data (including adding the link to the PDF) and after they declare the data finished can publish the data, so that the student can see them in the data view (comes with Visforms Subscription).
3. The data view, where the student can view his or her own data, after the tutor has published the data (posibility to restrict view to own data comes with Visforms Subscription)

About your statements and questions.

a) yes
b) The Plugin Form View is part of the Subscription. You only need this plugin if you want to publish the form inside an Joomla! article. Usually you would use a menu item of type Visforms >> form to publish the form. This is possible without the Subscription. Visforms allows you to add texts to the form in many different ways, so that it is usually not necessary to put the form into an Joomla! article using the Plugin Form View.
c) yes, this is possible with the subscription. You have to set up Joomla! user groups, permissions and access level for the form, the fields, the menu items and so on, properly, but if you set up the ACL properly this is possible. You have to have a good plan, but I know from many Visforms users that they build small applications exactly like that.
d) yes

1. Question: yes
2. Question: See above

Aicha

hi Aicha and thank you for your answer,

as I can say the Phoca PDF is a replacement of the standard Joomla PDF conversion functionality. So it would work out of the box on the Joomla page.

In the front data view plugin there are only raw data or there are html code, CSS classes and ID, with which I can format the result page? Or is this page a form with precompile data like in Visforms Edit Page in Frontend?

The idea is that if I can style this page, Phoca PDF simply convert this page in a pdf file with in-page header and footer.

In any case the solution based on Visforms Subscription Plugin Mail Attachments can help in case the planned conversion is not possible.

One last things.
If I use a menu item of type Visforms >> form to publish the form, the standard Joomla
PDF print/conversion is working? I would like to use Plugin Form View becouse I think that if the form is inserted in a standard Joomla plage the PDF conversion print "exactly" what is in page.

Hi,

the layout of the front end data views is fix. You can say, which data are to be displayed (from which field), but you cannot insert custom texts (like in the form views) or html code or css classes through configuration. So it is raw data, as you call it. You can see examples of the data view on this website vi-solutions.de/en/demo-registration-list . Any front end data view created with a menu item of type visforms >> "form data" looks more or less the same. (As this way to display data in front end is part of the free Visforms core, you could test without buying the subscription).

Visforms does not have an option to display a print icon. So I guess that what you call standard Joomla! page print conversion does not work with it. If you only want to use the Visforms form view plugin in order to put the form into an article, so that you can use this Joomla! function, then you could at least test by using a Visforms module and put this into an article. (Using the editor extended button "modules). As the module Visforms is part of the free version, you could test, this first, without buying the subscription.

Regards,
Aicha
