Data export was created by wendykoorts
Hi there,
I have visforms installed on my joomla site, when I export the data it is comma delimited, it puts each string after a comma in a new cell, how can I get it to be 'FIELD' delimited, so the answers are all in one cell.

thanks

Hi,

I'm not sure, if I understand your problem correctyl.
Visforms should put the value of each field (the input a user made in one field) in one cell and the fields/cells of each record set are separated by commas. For each record set which you export, there is one line of comma separated values in your export file.

Does this not work as expected?

Regards,
Aicha

Hi,

in Visforms you can choose, which separator/delimiter should be used for the export. As we live in Germany and many of our users are from here, the default setting for this option is, to use the semicolon as separator. But you can switch it to the comma. (Form Configuration -> Advanced -> Data Export (it is the last option in this list; Please make sure, that you are in the form configuration and not the global Visforms Configuration!).

If the selected separator/delimiter is part of the user input, Visforms should escape the delimiter by automatic action. So, if the separator option is set to semicolon, the semicolon in texts would be escaped, if it is set to comma, the comma will be escaped.

I think, the problem is, that you have not changed the separator to comma, so commas in texts are not escaped, but your excel assumes, that the separater would be the comma. I think, you can fix the problem by selecting the proper separator in the form configuration.

Please let me know, if that fixes your problem.

Kind Regards,
Aicha
