Datepicker was created by creagmhor
Hi,

I am using Joomla 3.3.3 and using Visforms V 3.1.1

I am managed to get the datepicker to work by installing Jquery easy and disabling jquery in the template but no matter what I do I cant get the datepicker to line up at the end of the date field or get the date icon to show in the date button.

my website is in progress but you can see the form on the contact page at:
www.lots-cottage.co.uk
Strange thing is I have the datepicker working fine on this page with the same version of Joomla but with a different template by the same designer.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Thank You

Joe

Hi,

in the template that does not work the template.css has a "display: block;" rule for input element (line 2742 ff). It's that rule that causes the image (more accurately the HTML button element which is wrapped around the image) to be pushed into a new line.

In the template that works, this "display: block" rule does not exist.

Aicha

Hi Aicha,

That did the trick perfectly so thanks for your quick response.

Any idea why the little calendar icon is missing from the button?

Thanks again

Hi Joe,

the calendar icon has the class . icon-calendar (which is actually set by the Joomla! Core function that creates the entire date control and which I use in Visforms). At line 3724 the template.css explicitly sets rules for .icon-calendar like "font-familiy: FontAwesome" whereas usually this would be the default Joomla! icon font "IcoMoon".

It's that rule, that does not work properly. I don't know, whether the character, that represents the icon-calendar does not exist in FontAwesome or mayby FontAwesome itself cannot be loaded by the template.... I think if you just remove the font-family rule or replace it with IcoMoon everything would be ok.

Aicha

Hi Aicha,
Thanks for your reply.

Changing the template.css file from FontAwesome to IcoMoon did not work for me and I had to amend the visforms.css file and replace all entries of IcoMoon for FontAwesome to get it to work.

With IcoMoon I also had different results in Chrome to that in Firefox. Now they both display the FA icon for calendar correctly.

The template uses FA 4 and Bootstrap 3 and the designer prefers FA over IcoMoon.

Thanks for all your help and thaks for a great forms package

Hi Joe,

thanks a lot for your response. You're welcome!

Although Bootstrap 3 is, of course, better than the 2.3, I personally think that if you work within a framework like Joomla! you have to respect the defaults they set. Everything else causes a lot of incompatibilties and problems because different extensions from different developers no longer work together properly (as expected). For me that is just a bad and time consuming style.

(Sorry for speaking so frankly but actually it is very often me who answers patiently the questions in this forum, answers which are far more than just support for Visforms, and not the developers of extensions that do not respect the defaults. And sometimes that is just disappointing, especially considering what else could be done in this time.)

But never mind, that is not your fault! And I'm glad I could help and your problem is solved.

Regards,
Aicha
