OK. Second quick posting.
I have Vinaora Nivo Slider installed on the front page, the leading featured article. I have lots of text below that . Scrolls through some photos and all works good.
I created a form on the front page in a module that is embedded in my header and the Vinaora Nivo Slider stops working.
No errors displayed on page. If I go in and unpublish the form, the slider comes back and works fine.
I'm not sure where to begin with this...

Hi rickshadey,

I had a similiar question once before, but it was not posted in the forum, so you were not able to read the solution. In this case Visforms did not work, when the slider was enabled.
I was able to take a look at the website then, because I was provided with a link.
Here is the answer I gave in that other case and which I think is valid for your problem too.

In last consequence it is a JavaScript incompatibility that causes the problem.
Visforms relies on JavaScript for frontend form validation.
When you nowadays us JavaScript (as a developer) you usually work with JavaScript Frameworks.
Joomla! itself used to use the Mootools framework and is in the process of switching to the jQuery framework.
Therefore I switched Visforms from the Mootools framework to the jQuery framework too, using the jQuery librairy that comes with the Joomla! framework. (Version 1.11.0)

I tried really hard to make the use of JavaScript as stable as possible but when you have a Website which is build out of the Jooma! core plus individual template plus third party extensions you sometimes get combinations that crash.
Usually there is a way to run different JavaScript frameworks on one side using so called "noconflict" modes, but the way you implement that "noconflict" and the order of script calls can be important too.

As far as i can see the problem here is that
- the mod_asnivo_slider loads an older jQuery librairy than the one that comes with the Joomla! framework
- this module uses the same "noconflict" subsitution as the Joomla! framework and therefore blocks all Javascript code that relies on the original jQuery that comes with Joomla!

How to fix it?

You could look if maybe the module asnivo_slider has an option to use Joomla! default jQuery framework? If no I fear you can use only one of the both extensions.
Regards,
Aicha

So I looked into the settings available on the slider. Under "Extra Options" there are 2 drop downs with the following options:
1st drop down: JQuery source
- local (default)
- Google Hosting
- Joomla Hosting
- none
2nd drop down: JQuery version
- 1.10.2
- 1.8
- 1.83
- 1.9
- 1.9.1
I tried a variety of these to no avail. I'm going to assume it won't work unless you have any other thoughts. I added these options for future searches on your forum.
And to be honest, your support has convinced me that I like Visforms way better than that stupid slider!
Now if I can only get the Field titles displayed in the field box, as mentioned on another topic, I will definitely switch to you! Thanks for your help and time!

Hi,

thanks for your detailed post, which I think will certainly help other people!

As you can see jQuery 1.11.0 is not on the list. I think that is, why you could not find a slider setting, that worked.

Aicha
