reCaptcha

Hi Aicha,
after a while it's me again .

I have a question to the reCaptcha spam protection: I entered the site key and the secret key from google in the reCaptcha plugin and then activate the captcha in visforms and on the frontend it seems to work but whenever I send a form I get the error message "Fehler beim verschicken des Formulars - Sorry, dieser Code ist nicht gültig".

I am lost now.

Google reCaptcha is a fickle thing.

Actually I think, if you have set up the reCaptcha Plugin properly this should work and as far as I remember the message you receive would be the message, which Visforms shows, if Google "says" that the reCaptcha was not solved properly.

Have you selected the reCaptcha V2 option in the Plugin, because I think, that Google does no longer support the V1 version. The V2 version is the one with the images, where there is a question and you have to select those images from a collection that matches the question.

yes, I selected Version 2.0 which is the one asking if I am a roboter. Just have to activate the checkmark.

sorry that it took me so long to look into this and answer.

I set up a test installation with Visforms 3.9.2 on Joomla! 3.7.5 and tested with Google Recaptcha V2. I could find no problem with that. When I check the box "I'm not a Robot", a panel with images pops up and I'm supposed to mark those images that fits the instruction". When I solve the problem correctly I can submit the form without any problems.

Actually checking whether the captcha was solved properly or not, is part of the recaptcha plugin. Visforms only "asks" the plugin to do the checking. So in your case, obviously the plugin returns "false", and therefore Visforms throws the message.

I have not tested on Joomla! 3.8 yet, so I cannot tell, whether there is a problem between the communication between Visforms and the recaptcha plugin, because of code changes made in Joomla! 3.8. but I think, if this would be the case, I had more post like this on my forum.

I do not know if you simple never solved the recaptcha properly or if it is a display problem with your captcha, because you only mentioned the first checkbox (I'm not a robot) but not the image selection afterwards.

thanks a lot for testing. I guess my problem is that I never get any pop up with the images. I know them but when I klick on "I am not a robot" nothing more happens than the green checkmark that it is accepted.

When I open the link and click the "I'm not a robot", I do see the popup. Actually I think, the problem is, that this popup is displayed in an iframe but your browser is set up in a way, that it does not allow iframes?

So the good news is, that this is obviously not a problem which any user of your website will run into. And I actually think, that it will not happen with many users.

The bad news is, that I cannot fix this for you.
As the recaptchas is a feature provided by google and obviously Google has decided that using iframes is a good way to do things, and as it is the Joomla! Recaptcha plugin that provides the code and the setting which create the captcha in the first place, Visforms actually has very little influence in this case at all. So I think, if you want to use reCaptchas you have to assume, that the browsers of your users support iframes.

The only workaround I can see is, that you add a text above the captcha about that....
