required email address vailidation, address with period

Hi Support,
I was recently notified by a user that their email address fails validation when there is a period in the email address. For example, first.last@company.com does not validate and will not allow the user to submit. I do not have any custom validation setup. I can recreate the issue in Production so please let me know if you need to test onsite.

I am using joomla 3.6.4 with Visforms Version 3.7.10.

thanks for this information but using a period in the left hand side of an email address does not cause the validation to fail. So it must have been something different with this email address that causes the problem.
Would it be possible that you mail me the email address that did not pass the validation? I'll handle it carefully!

Thank you Aicha! After looking into the code, I didn't see how the period could cause the failure. I was able to recreate the issue the day I opened the ticket (using copy copy and paste) but I just retested and it was successful (hand-entered address). Now, I suspect that the user included a space in the beginning or the end of the email address that caused the issue.
