Field sort order not sorting

Field sort order not sorting was created by JohnDough
Once one has created a form and then want to move a field up or down in the sort order it moves it on the backend but not on the published form.

It seems that the order is set to remain in the order that the fields were created in.

One has to either plan your fields in advance before creating them or delete fields and add new fields to get the published order correct.

Hi JohnDough,

if you change the field order backend (fieldlist), this affects the field order in frontend (published form) as well. (And in Data views).

You have to click on the small symbol with the double arrows (in the header of the first column). Then you can drag and drop the field (click on the three squares an drag the line with the mouse still pushed).

Go to frontend and refresh the form.

If that is not working I could take a look at it.

Kind Regards,
Aicha

Hi Aicha

It is not working on my side, you still have access to the back end and are more than welcome to check it there.

Cheers

Hi John,

I just took a look into the administration of your website. Here is what I found.

When I try to change the field order it looks in the backend as if the field is moved but when you browse away from the fields list view and return to it you can see, that the changes were not really stored in database.

Visforms uses the default Joomla! functions and mechanisms to move fields (change order of recordsets). So I tested with the articles view. Same problem there. You cannot change order of articels in a category.

So this is not a problem of Visforms but of your Joomla! administration at all.

At the moment I have no real idea where this could come from and I haven't had time yet to ask Google.

I'll stay in touch.

Kind Regards,
Aicha

Hi Aicha

Thanks for the feedback, it is not serious as I will just preplan any future forms properly. Maybe it will be fixed in an upcoming Joomla update. Once again, thank you for your professional service.

Cheers

John
