Variable default value while opening a form

I installed Visforms. Very nice extension.
Could you please tell me, how to access forms with start value for a special formular field? The start value as it is now, is not the solution for me, because it is a static information. I would like to start the form via a link and dependent on the site from which the link was activated, I would like to fill in a formular field with a default value. Up to know, I have no idea how to do. Thanks.

Hi,

take a look here www.vi-solutions.de/en/forum-index/19-jo...s-using-form-weblink

Of course this is a crude solution which certainly can be refined.

Aicha

Thanks a lot for your quick reply.

I am not sure, whether I could install the solution you described. But I also cannot copy the forms using the start value. The most satisfacting solution would be, if you could implement a function where you can select, whether a field can be filled with a start value, user name, but also using a variable e.g. out of the url. Is there a possibility to copy forms also containing the fields? As of now, you will create a form via copy function, but this form will not have any fields in it. Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi,

providing a consitant solution for your problem as a core feature of Visforms will need some consideration and planning to do it properly. Because, when a feature is not just a solution for one user but a feature of Visforms itself you have to take into account much more aspects. But I'll think about it.

There is a batch process in either Visforms for Joomla! 2.5 and for 3.x for copying the form with or without the fields. In Visforms for Joomla! 2.5 it's possition below the forms list in the forms list view. In Visforms form Joomla! 3.x it's a button. I tested it once again and it works fine on my develop and test installations. Doesn't that work on your Joomla! installation?

There is an option to batch copy fields either to the form they belong to (they are renamed than) or to another form which you can choose.

Regards,
Aicha

Hi Aicha, thanks for your reply. I do not see any button to copy the formular fields as well. I'm using Joomla 3.3 and PHP 5.4.21. But nevertheless I found a solution for my problem, having some SQL statements in place. The solution is not perfect because of redundancy, but it works. Thanks for your support so far. Regards, Hardy

Hi Hardy,

I send you a private mail with two screenshots, which may help you find the button.
